"Therapy is the process of learning how to listen to yourself in a way that allows you to be more compassionate with who you are."
- Lori Gottlieb

Hi there, I'm Alex.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and I specialize in helping adults manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and recovery/addiction.

My background includes working with individuals across the lifespan in various treatment settings, from inpatient care and group therapy to community mental health and private practice. In 2024, I founded Matters of Mind Counseling during a transformative time in my life which inspired me to help others navigate their own journeys toward healing and growth. What's on your mind matters and I am here to listen.

My role as your therapist...
I understand how challenging change can be, especially when it is unexpected. I get the way anxiety can block you from fully being present or how stress can paralyze you from functioning. Wether you find your symptoms have been life-long or they started out of no where, you don't have to continue struggling.

To me, therapy is about building resilience, improving emotional well-being, and achieving balance in your life. I wholeheartedly believe that change is possible ----it just takes a little confidence and knowing how! My focus is to help you in developing greater self-awareness and a refreshed sense of purpose.
Utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches in combination with providing you the coping skills needed, you can meet your goal toward living a more peaceful and satisfying life. My services are tailored to meet your unique needs but some of the more common practices I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and relaxation techniques, and solution-focused therapy. I also have a background and training in Attachment-Based Therapy which helps individuals build trusting relationships.

Ready for change? Let's make it happen!
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're dealing with anxiety. It's totally understandable to feel unsure about opening up to someone new. That is why I offer a free consultation to give you a chance to get to know me, ask any questions, and see if we’re a good fit- all without any pressure. This initial meeting is about helping you feel comfortable and confident moving forward in a way that works best for you.
